The Trade and Development Symposium in Nairobi brought together 48 partners and some 2,000 participants representing 70 countries. This included 260 speakers, with 58 sessions webcast to an additional audience of 4,000 viewers worldwide.

Beyond providing invaluable insights into a wide range of topics relevant to trade policy and its role in achieving sustainable development, highlights included the Nairobi Trade and Business Forum and the E15Initiative stream in which world-leading experts and institutions delivered policy options for strengthening the global trade and investment system.

The E15 Initiative stream at the Trade and Development Symposium focused on dialogue around the key deliverables the Initiative’s world class experts would release in January at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Discussion provided an exclusive preview of the policy options that have been developed over four years by some of the world’s most pre-eminent trade policy experts. Several of these experts were present in Nairobi, providing a unique opportunity to engage with key influencers on the side lines of the Tenth WTO Ministerial Conference.

Nairobi Trade and Business Forum

The Nairobi Trade and Business Forum (NTBF) provided a platform for closer engagement between businesses and policy makers. It offered a specially tailored forum for businesses, decision makers and experts nationally, regionally and globally to identify and examine the most critical issues, find new perspectives and build alliances.

Taking place as part of the Trade and Development Symposium (TDS) and during the 10th WTO Ministerial Conference, the NTBF was organised in collaboration with TradeMark East Africa (TMEA)and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
